Basic instructions are really simple - please only use a steel tape measure (not paper or cloth/taylor measuring tapes) and millimetres as the unit of measure!
Detailed measuring instructions can be found below in both PDF printed format or by following the measuring video that appears on the home page.
With regards to handles on both windows and doors it is important we check that they are central to the length of side that they are on, just in case the double glazing fabrication company were not precise at the point of manufacture. On following the measuring instructions above it is always a good double check by putting the handle to it's open position and run the tape measure along the full length and check the centre of the handle pivot point is in the exact middle of the overall measurement. This is the calculation we will use when manufacturing the unit.

Where a handle does exist we will introduce a 'rebate' into either the top or bottom of the Shutter Blind panel or to the stile sides where a left or right side handle exists. This rebate cut out allows the window handle to rotate for opening and closing purposes.
Resulting measurement that you provide us with i.e. the visible glass size, will equate to a finished Shutter Blind that is 42mm overall (21mm each side) bigger than that glazing size - this overlap will coincide with and cover the trim on you window. Perimeter frame on our panel units is 50mm wide with a 30mm protrusion. This relatively compact outer frame combined with the handle rebate accommodates the majority of handle instances. Where a handle finds obstruction or slightly catches the rebate base then we are more than happy to send a handle shim plate which provides either an extra 2mm or 6mm stand away that is mounted behind the window handle.
Multi Panels - Perfect Fit Shutter Blinds have a maximum individual panel width of 800mm, this is per panel and not a window size restriction. With this in mind when a window is above the 800mm width limit we start creating multi panel construction by dividing the over width limit into 2, 3 or more panels accordingly. As an example a 2100mm wide glazed window will have 3 off 700mm individual panels created for it. These multi panels sit side by side and have an astragal overlap, this being a small lip that sits neatly across the gap where the two panels meet. This does provide an enhancing aesthetic finish which also lends itself to the overall 'Shutters' appearance.
We would point out that where wider windows are concerned and the multi panel configuration is required then the presence of a top or bottom handle determines the number of panels required in order to allow for the inclusion of the handle rebate. An example would be that a top opening window with a width of 1500mm, although mathematically would create 2 x 750mm panels in fact would technically need 3 panels so that the middle panel includes the centred handle rebate. Otherwise with only two panels the rebate could not be fitted over the point where said panels join. On manufacture we would automatically create the odd number and Customers should expect this to be the case on delivery and installation.
